MUA Winter Forest Matte Collection...

Hello everyone, I'm back again, and today I'm reviewing an eyeshadow palette that I instantly fell in love with. The Winter Forest Matte collection palette from Make Up Academy.

MUA Winter Forest Matte Collection eye shadow palette (RRP £4.00)

When I first saw this palette in store the fact that it was a matte palette definitely influenced my decision. Most of the palettes that various makeup companies bring out are mainly shimmer, satin or foil shades with maybe 1 or 2 matte shadows, so to find a palette that consists of solely matte shadows meant that I had no choice but to buy it (at least thats my story and I'm sticking to it lol). A number of the shadows in this palette are pretty standard colours that can be used on a regular basis; So theres a soft medium brown thats perfect for a transition shade, a deep brown which would be great for an every day neutral makeup look and 3 different shades of grey that are perfect for creating a sultry, smokey eye. These are all great shades that would be staple colours in anyones makeup bag, but, they aren't the colours that originally caught my attention, the colours I fell in love with were the beautiful navy blue and the rich forest green. Both of which are definitely eye catching and very very pretty. In fact upon seeing these two colours I knew I "had" to own this palette, I could already envision the multitude of different looks I could create based on these 2 deep colours. The only shadow that kind of looks out of place in this particular palette is the minty/turquoisey green/blue, don't get me wrong it's a lovely colour, perfect for adding a pop of colour to any makeup look and will be great for spring, but with the other deep darker shades (with the exception of 2 lighter highlighting/lid shadows) it just seems as though it's been stuck in there as an after thought. All that being said, I can't complain as I genuinely love all of the shadows and can picture different looks containing each of them.

(Shadows 1-5 are perfect for a natural every day makeup look, whereas shadows 6-10 are great for creating a beautiful smokey eye or for adding a pop of colour.)
Now it's all well and good finding beautiful eyeshadow palettes, but if the shadows aren't really wearable it's all a waste of money. so how about we get down to the important stuff and see how this baby performs.

Okay so just by swatching the shadows I would say that they are really creamy and blendable, but as I have properly tested them out and created a few makeup looks with them now I can indeed confirm that not only are they creamy and bendable as I said before but they're really easy to build up too so you can go from subtle and soft, to bold and sharp by simply adding more shadow. I'd definitely recommend this palette, the quality of the shadows far surpasses the expectations I had, especially considering the low price (just £4.00 RRP) and to top it off if you go to the MUA store ( www.muastore.co.uk ) this particular palette is on sale for just £2.00, a must have for anyones make up bag.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope to see you again soon.

Alison
